Cabrera Time Lapse

Below is a link to our first time lapse taken with our GoPro Hero. Let me know what you think, I know it goes a bit blurry at the end! I think it was because of the sun, but I need to consult my brother, the video genius of the family and get some tips from him!

View From The Castle

The hill was long and steep, but well worth the hike!

We also got to use our dinghy properly for the first time to get to the shore.  It's not the fastest thing in the water, but ample for what we need!  It will be more than comfortable with six people on and starts first time every time.

Cabrera

Today we sailed to a small island south of Mallorca called Cabrera. It took about five hours and the engine was going the whole time due to only 7Knts of wind at best!

We plan to stay here for the next 6 or 7 days to test all of the boat systems. Will update more tomorrow!

New Antenna Mast

The new antenna mast fitted with the AIS and 3G antennas fitted. If you ever need any metal work done whilst in Mallorca go see Carlos at Mundimar, he can make anything out of stainless steel!

AIS is up and running!

After a few hours of wiring our iAIS is installed and working perfectly! This device show us where all commercial ships and large pleasure boats are and the course data so we can keep out of their way!

If any one else out there is in the market for an AIS unit I would highly recommend this one from Digital Yacht, it easy to install, works with most main stream nav equipment and is reasonably priced!

P.S.
It's the little box on the right in the second photo, the one with the aerial.

Things you don't ever want to see...

Today we drilled two holes in the hull for the watermaker, one just in front o the keel and the other in the starboard port bow just above the waterline. I really hope this sikaflex stuff is as good as everyone says!

The first layer of anti foul goes on.

Snow!!!

When we woke up this morning we thought we had been magically transported to Val D'Isere! This is apparently the first time Palma has seen snow in 80 years. The really wacky things is that photo was taken at about 10am, but by 2pm it had all melted and everything looked normal again!

Colder than the UK!

We have arrived in Palma to fit the last renaming things to the boat before we leave for Barcelona on the 10th of March.
So far the Apple TV has been installed and is working very well. The wireless is also up but with no connection to the Internet yet because Vodafone Espana are useless!

As you can see from the photo it is bloody cold here, it's actually warmer in our house which I didn't think would be possible! We only have 2 small electric heaters going at the moment, Carol has 4 layers on!

Looking forward to squid for dinner!
